Nathan Edson DAR Youth Leadership Award Dylan Morris

The Nathan Edson NSDAR has awarded its first Youth Leadership award to Dylan Morris, a senior at Concordia High School. He is the son of Zac and Nicki Morris. The award is given to students who demonstrate qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism.

Dylan planned and implemented a special project for his Eagle Scout Award. Dylan has been a scout for over 10 years and has always participated with the Scouts in putting flags on the graves of the veterans at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. He noticed many of the veterans’ graves had broken flag holders, and many didn’t have one at all, so those Veterans were not being recognized. He wanted to remedy the issue and made it his Eagle Scout Project. He discovered there were many more Veterans there than the cemetery had noted. The cemetery had 407 listed when there were more than 900 Veterans buried there. Dylan worked at securing donations and flag markers were purchased and placed on all the Veterans’ graves by the end of December 2024. Now the Veterans will be properly remembered.

Dylan is one of 4% of Scouts who go on to earn the highest award in scouting.

Congratulations, Dylan, and thank you for your patriotism and dedication in honoring these brave Veterans.
