Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 22 performance measures reflecting accidents, errors, injuries and infections, as well as the systems and protocols hospitals have in place to prevent them.

This is the eighth “A” grade for Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan in the last five years. The hospital previously earned the award in spring 2021, fall 2021, spring 2022, spring 2023, fall 2023, spring 2024, fall 2024, and now spring 2025, reflecting the hospital’s ongoing dedication to patient safety and quality care.

“This recognition by Leapfrog is an acknowledgment of our dedicated caregivers and their steadfast commitment to live out our mission of delivering safe, high quality and compassionate care for all,” said Robert Copple, President of Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. “We are proud of our team and the exceptional care they provide for our patients, every single day.”

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, its leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.” Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grade program is a national rating focused exclusively on hospital safety, preventable medical errors, infections, and patient injuries. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan has also received a 4-star rating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Hospital Quality Star Ratings and is one of only 15 Kansas hospitals to receive a 5-star rating for cleanliness. The hospital is listed as one of America’s Best-in-State Hospitals 2025 by Newsweek and Statista.
