EPA Mandates Disclosure of Water Distribution Materials; CCPUC Seeks Public Help to Meet New Regulations

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced new drinking water regulations requiring water suppliers to disclose all materials used in the construction of water distribution systems across the country.

This information is to be submitted by public water supply systems before October 16, 2024, as required by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).

As the water supplier, the Clay Center Public Utilities Commission (CCPUC) is required to identify all construction materials used on both sides of the water meter at homes or businesses. The aim is to identify and document the service lines between the meter and the tap. To achieve this goal, help from the public is needed to collect information.

The water survey can be found on the Clay Center Public Utilities website. Paper copies are also available by mail, or can be picked up at the CCPUC billing office.
