17th Annual Glen Elder Tractor Cruise Honors Founder Junior Vandergiesen, Raises Scholarship Funds for Local Seniors

The 17th annual Glen Elder Tractor Cruise, in memory of Junior Vandergiesen, will be held on August 31 at Glen Elder State Park. Drivers will meet at 8:30 at Hopewell Church.

Jim Slate with the Lions Club said The Tractor Cruise began when members of the Glen Elders Lions Club decided to get together with others who enjoy tractors. Now, each year they raise money for scholarships for seniors in Glen Elder.

This year the cruise is in memory of Junior Vandergiesen, who Slate said was instrumental in getting the Tractor Cruise started.

Annually, the cruise typically sees around 30-40 participants. Slate said they always begin at Hopewell Church and try to take a new route each year with different sights.

Anyone interested in participating in the Tractor Cruise can check out the Glen Elder Facebook page.
