Across six locations and one alternate, Clay Center has approved new concrete projects to the tune of 3,815 lineal feet of curb, 812 square feet of sidewalk, 4,859 square feet of alley and side street approaches, 778 square feet valley gutter. On January 20th, City Council approved bid from Vogts-Parga for $307,466.05. This includes curb removal and replacement, sidewalk removal and replacement, and street approach removal and replacement.
Project #1 located at 9th and Franklin Streets, running approximately 600 feet to the east. Project #2 is located at 13th and Blunt Streets to include valley gutter and curb. Project #3 is located on Blunt Street from 5th to 6th Streets to include new curb. Project #4 is on Huntress from 4th to 6th Streets. Project #5 is at the intersection of 14th and Lincoln Streets. Project #6 is located at 9th and Bridge Streets. Alternate #1 is a new entrance into Campbell Field, located on C Street north of West Court, to include concrete entrance, curb, and sidewalk work.
Across nine locations and one alternate, Clay Center has approved 2026 asphalt projects. On January 20th, City Council approved a bid from Shilling Construction for a total of $508,708.50 with an alternate bid of projects one-eight at $212,907.30. The Council unanimously approved the bid from Shilling Asphalt at a price of $720,985.80.
Project #1 is located at 9th and Franklin Streets for approximately 600 feet long by 24 feet wide. Project #2 is at Garfield Street from 4th to 7th Street. Project #3 is located at 13th and East Streets. Project #4 will be at 1st Street and Pogue Road, following south and east, to include Sunset Circle. Project #5 includes Blunt from 5th to 6th Streets. Project #6 runs from 4th and Huntress to 6th and Huntress Streets. Project #7 is 14th Street from Clarke to Sherman. Project #8 is 9th and Bridge Streets, running south. Project #9 starts at 9th and Maple Streets and ends at 8th and Maple. Alternate #1 is from C Street and West Court to C and Crawford Streets.
Alternate projects are to be completed if funds allow; on January 20th they were approved within the concrete/asphalt budgets.
