AARP Kansas is inviting nonprofit groups and local governments to apply for the 2026 AARP Community Challenge grant program. Applications are open now and are due by March 4, 2026. The grants support quick projects that make communities easier and safer places to live by improving things like public spaces, transportation, housing, internet access, and disaster readiness.
Now in its tenth year, the program will award more than $8 million nationwide. AARP offers three types of grants: flagship grants for community improvements, small capacity-building grants with expert support, and larger demonstration grants for projects that can be copied in other communities. Grant amounts range from a few hundred dollars to up to $25,000.
The program focuses on meeting the needs of people age 50 and older but benefits residents of all ages. Eligible nonprofits and government groups may apply. All projects must be finished by December 15, 2026.
