Advance in-Person Voting Available at the Clay County Courthouse

The General Election will take place on November 4th, including two contested positions: Clay Center City Council position for Ward 3; and USD 379 School Board Position #4.

Everyone votes on all school board positions within their school district, while only Ward residents vote on City Council positions.

The ballot will also include a question for the renewal of a one-half percent retail sales tax for county roads.

Where to Vote

Advance voting is available at the Clay County Courthouse M-F from 8-5. Residents can enter the County Clerk’s office on the main floor.

There will be a satellite voting location in Longford on October 29th from 2-7 pm.

Advance voting closes at noon on November 3rd.

General election voters gather at their assigned polling location and can vote between 7 am and 7 pm.

Assigned voting locations can be found by calling the Clay County Clerk’s office at or by visiting https://kansasvoterinfo.gov/VoterView

What to Bring

Voters need their driver’s license or photo identification in order to confirm their identity.

Kids are welcome to attend the voting process, said Sierra Urban, Clay County Deputy Clerk.

She said in busier times, for instance, during Halloween Howl, when many families are downtown, they use the Commissioners’ room so adults can still vote privately.

“We actually have a lot of parents bring their kids in to learn what the voting process is like,” she said. “We will explain it or their parents will so it’s also educational.”

Past Voter Turnout

2024 General Election saw 67.24% of registered voters

The previous USD 379 school board elections saw just 37.78% of voter turnout.

Clay County has a total of 5,976 registered voters.
