AI-Powered Hub at Children’s Mercy Boosts Pediatric Care, Cuts Wait Times, and Expands Access

U.S. Representative Sharice Davids recently visited Children’s Mercy Kansas City to learn how artificial intelligence is transforming pediatric care for Kansas families.

The hospital’s Patient Progression Hub uses predictive analytics to improve patient flow, shorten wait times, and help children receive timely, efficient care.

By centralizing hospital data, the Hub enables care teams to address potential issues before they affect patients. It uses real-time information and predictive tools to anticipate patient volumes, manage staffing, and assign beds more effectively, ensuring critical care is delivered without delay.

Since its launch, the Hub has saved thousands of bed hours, reduced costs, and increased availability for pediatric patients. In just six months, it created enough additional capacity to care for 82 more medical-surgical patients each year.
