Amazon announced plans to build a ‘last-mile delivery station’ in Bel Aire on Tuesday. The company is acquiring 20 acres in the Sunflower Commerce Park to construct a 176,000 sq. ft. facility to meet growing customer demand, creating over 100 jobs.
This will be Amazon’s third facility in the Wichita metro area. Construction is set to begin soon, with completion expected later this year.
Last-mile facilities are the final step in Amazon’s fulfillment process, enabling fast, daily deliveries to customers’ doorsteps. Packages will be processed at fulfillment and sortation centers before being prepared for last-mile delivery, improving delivery times and expanding fast service to more rural communities in the region.
