The American Legion Boys State of Kansas is now accepting applications for its 2026 session, set for Sunday, May 31 through Saturday, June 6, at Kansas State University in Manhattan. This will be the program’s 34th straight year at KSU and its 88th session overall.

Boys State traditionally accepts students finishing their junior year of high school, but this year the program will again allow students completing their sophomore year to apply. The program offers a hands-on leadership experience that builds teamwork, confidence, and civic responsibility. Participants take part in a “learning by doing” government simulation that includes elections, political parties, and state, county, and local government roles.

Students who register by Jan. 31 will receive a Boys State sweatshirt or polo.

Attendees can earn discounted K-State college credit, work toward Boy Scout merit badges, and apply for Samsung American Legion Scholarships.
