Beutler and Son Rodeo Company Loses Dozens of Horses to Contaminated Feed; Livestock Nutrition Center Takes Responsibility

The rodeo industry suffered a recent loss of dozens of horses from the Beutler and Son Rodeo Company. Generations of skilled bucking stock died after consuming what is believed to be tainted feed. Initial reports suggested that the horses were poisoned with monensin, an ingredient known to be fatal to horses even in very small doses.

In a social media post, the Livestock Nutrition Center has acknowledged responsibility for the incident. The statement was signed by Ronnie Castlebury, Ph.D., President of Livestock Nutrition Center.

Livestock Nutrition Center operates multiple locations across the United States, including mills in Garden City and Overland Park, Kansas. Reports indicate that the tainted feed originated from one of these Kansas locations.

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry has launched an investigation into the matter.
