Bieniemy Returns to Lead Chiefs Offense

Eric Bieniemy is back in Kansas City, returning for his second stint as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator.

Bieniemy spent 10 seasons on the Chiefs’ coaching staff from 2013 to 2022 and served as offensive coordinator from 2018 through 2022. During that span, Kansas City led the NFL in points per game, yards per game, third-down efficiency, and total touchdowns.

Head coach Andy Reid said Bieniemy’s familiarity with the organization and staff will help provide continuity as the team moves forward.

Since leaving Kansas City, Bieniemy coached with Washington, UCLA, and the Chicago Bears. He said those stops helped him grow as a coach and communicator.

One of his main goals will be improving the Chiefs’ running game, which struggled to produce big plays last season. Bieniemy comes off a year in Chicago where the Bears ranked third in the NFL in rushing yards.

Kansas City is hoping his return helps spark a rebound in 2026.
