Bipartisan Bill Introduced to Address Technical Service Provider Shortage and Boost Agricultural Conservation

U.S. Senators Roger Marshall and Michael Bennet, along with Congressman Jim Baird, introduced the bipartisan Increased TSP Access Act to address the shortage of Technical Service Providers (TSPs).

The bill aims to tackle this issue by:

  • Allowing More Certifiers: It directs the USDA to approve non-federal entities like agricultural retailers, cooperatives, and conservation groups to certify TSPs within 180 days.
  • Simplifying Certification: It creates a streamlined process for TSPs who already hold relevant certifications, like certified crop advisors, ensuring they avoid unnecessary training while meeting required standards.
  • Fair Pay: The bill ensures TSPs are paid fair market rates for their services using conservation program funds.

This legislation seeks to improve access to skilled TSPs and enhance support for agricultural conservation efforts.
