Bipartisan Bill Introduced to Expand Year-Round E15 Sales, Lower Gas Prices

Representative Sharice Davids has introduced the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at expanding access to E15 ethanol-blended fuel year-round. By allowing nationwide sales, the legislation seeks to lower gas prices, support Kansas farmers, and strengthen domestic supply chains. Ethanol, made from locally grown crops, is a cost-effective alternative to unblended gasoline, benefiting both consumers and the agriculture industry.

“I’m proud to help introduce this bipartisan bill that would enable permanent, nationwide sales of E15, helping families save at the gas pump while supporting our agricultural community and enhancing our nation’s energy security,” said Davids. “This is how Congress should function: both parties coming together to address the most pressing challenges facing everyday folks.”

Davids has long advocated for the EPA to permit year-round E15 sales, emphasizing its role in reducing reliance on foreign oil and enhancing U.S. energy security. As part of her Farm Bill listening tour, she visited East Kansas Agri-Energy (EKAE), a Garnett-based ethanol producer that employs 40 full-time workers and depends on Kansas corn growers. EKAE previously received federal support during the pandemic to sustain operations. Davids continues to push for policies that boost local agriculture and manufacturing.
