Congressman Derek Schmidt announced he is cosponsoring the bipartisan SHARE Act, which would help qualified healthcare providers work across state lines by streamlining licensing processes.
The bill—formally known as the States Handling Access to Reciprocity for Employment (SHARE) Act—aims to improve coordination between states while preserving each state’s authority to decide who can practice within its borders.
Congressman Schmidt noted that recent years have been especially challenging for healthcare workers and stressed the need for practical solutions. He said easing restrictions that prevent providers from offering care across state lines is a strong step forward. Schmidt added he’s proud to support the SHARE Act and hopes it moves quickly through Congress and becomes law.
The SHARE Act has broad support from national and state healthcare groups, including the American Medical Association, the Federation of State Medical Boards, and the Kansas Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
