Blackhawk Helicopter to Land at Barton for Hands-On Medical, Military Training Event

Barton Community College released that they will team up with the Kansas Army National Guard on April 8 to give healthcare students hands-on exposure to military medical operations. A Blackhawk helicopter will land at 10 a.m. on the south side of the Kirkman parking lot at Barton’s main campus in Great Bend.

The event begins with a briefing for Nursing and Paramedic students, where Guard members will discuss aviation’s role in emergency medical services and share career opportunities within the Guard.

At 11 a.m., the public, including students, faculty, and staff, is invited to view the helicopter up close. The crew may conduct simulated patient loading demonstrations, offering a real-world look at how patients are transported during emergencies.

The helicopter is scheduled to depart at 1 p.m., marking the end of the event. The partnership aims to connect students with emergency response professionals and give them a deeper understanding of air medical operations in crisis situations.
