The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will offer a free, four-hour public tour of a wild horse off-range pasture in Ellsworth, Kansas, on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The tour provides a rare opportunity for the public to visit the private facility and learn about the BLM’s efforts to manage wild horse and burro populations.
Visitors will see more than 220 wild horses roaming across roughly 1,700 acres of grassland at Svaty Ranch, a privately owned property under contract with the federal government. These horses were removed from overpopulated western rangelands as part of BLM’s mission to manage herd health and range conditions.
No registration is required, and parking will be available on site. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Attendees are encouraged to bring cameras and may also bring sealed, non-alcoholic beverages. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing is recommended, and restrooms will be provided.
