BLM to Host Wild Horse Adoption Event June 21 at Svaty Ranch in Ellsworth

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is hosting a wild horse adoption event on Saturday, June 21, at the Svaty Ranch Public Off-Range Pasture in Ellsworth.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature 12 yearling and 2-year-old wild horses available for adoption. Photos and details about the horses can be found on BLM’s Facebook page.

BLM staff will be on site to assist with and approve adoption applications. To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old and have no history of animal abuse. Homes must provide at least 400 square feet of corral space per animal, along with access to food, water, and shelter. Fencing requirements include six feet for adult horses, five feet for yearlings, and four-and-a-half feet for burros. Animals must be transported in covered, stock-type trailers with swing gates and solid walls and floors.
