Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. added another milestone to his growing resume Friday night, winning the 2025 American League Platinum Glove Award. The honor, presented by Rawlings, recognizes the best defensive player in each league.
Witt also claimed his second straight Gold Glove Award after tying Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong for the MLB lead in Outs Above Average at +24. Since 2023, Witt’s +54 OAA ranks highest among all players, underscoring his consistency and range at shortstop.
His standout defense anchored a Royals infield that showed steady improvement throughout the season. Witt’s recognition marks a bright spot for Kansas City as the club continues to build around its young core.
The Platinum Glove caps a year in which Witt further cemented his status as one of baseball’s elite defenders and a cornerstone of the Royals’ future success.
