On Sunday, February 9th, history will be made with Super Bowl LIX. If the Kansas City Chiefs win, they will be the first team to take three consecutive wins, commonly known as the “three-peat.” If the Philadelphia Eagles take the game, they will be the first team to take a rematch after losing the first Super Bowl meet-up.
The Chiefs are 15-2 after losing to the Bills and the Broncos. They then beat the Bills to take the AFC Championships, their third consecutive title. The team also has the record for 17 AFC West Championships, the most of any team.
In total, the Chiefs have won four of six Super Bowls in which they have competed.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have one Super Bowl win, having played in three additional National Championships. They beat the New England Patriots in 2018. This will be their fifth appearance.
In addition, the Eagles have taken the NFC Title five times, having appeared in the game nine times total. Eight of those have been since 2000. They have won the NFC East 13 times.
After the Chiefs’ 38-35 victory in Super Bowl 57, this game will be the franchises’ 12th meetup, dating back to 1972.
Overall, the New England Patriots have appeared in the Super Bowl the most times with 11 appearances. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, and Denver Broncos are all tied with eight appearances for second place.
The Patriots and Steelers are tied with six wins each, while the 49ers and Cowboys each have five Super Bowl wins. Coming in at third are the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and Kansas City Chiefs with four National Titles.
Super Bowl LIX will take place on February 9th at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
