Bowman Nomination for Federal Reserve Role Advances in Senate

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran voiced strong support this week for Michelle “Mickey” Bowman as the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee advanced her nomination to become Vice Chair for Supervision at the Federal Reserve.

Sen. Moran praised Bowman’s qualifications and experience, calling her a strong voice for small lenders and rural communities. He urged full Senate confirmation, noting her role will be key in shaping financial regulations, including finalizing the Basel III reforms.

“When President Trump chose Mickey to serve as the community bank representative on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, it was clear she was a great choice, the right choice to give small lenders and rural communities a voice,” said Sen.Moran. “Not only did Mickey exceed the qualifications for the position set by law, but her time living and working in rural Kansas helped guide her decision making. With immense experience working in and supervising community banks, I’m confident Mickey will continue to be a champion for those community banks, but really more importantly for those community banks serve the people of states like mine and yours.”

Bowman, a native of Morris County, Kansas, is a longtime advocate for rural banking. She earned degrees from the University of Kansas and Washburn University School of Law before working in Washington, D.C., across Capitol Hill and the executive branch. In 2010, she returned to Kansas to serve as vice president at Farmers and Drovers Bank in Council Grove.

She later served as Kansas State Bank Commissioner, overseeing hundreds of state-chartered financial institutions. In 2018, President Trump appointed her to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors as the representative for community banks.
