On September 11, officers swiftly responded to a startling incident near the intersection of S. 5th and Pierre Streets in Manhattan. A 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 60-year-old William Windle of Independence, Missouri, had collided with a house, causing significant damage.
Initial reports indicate that Windle, while traveling west on Pierre Street, abruptly veered south onto a property, crashing into the house. Shockingly, he reversed and struck the residence again before attempting to flee the scene. Alert officers managed to apprehend Windle nearby.
Following the incident, Windle was transported to Via Christi for the treatment of minor injuries. Upon his release, he was taken into custody and booked at the Riley County Jail on charges of driving under the influence and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. As of now, Windle remains confined in the Riley County Jail, with a total bond set at $3,500.
