Elizabeth Weese, Community Foundation of Dickinson County
As 2024 draws to a close, the Community Foundation of Dickinson County reflects with profound gratitude on a year defined by generosity, collaboration, and remarkable accomplishments. This year, thanks to the steadfast support of our donors, we were able to achieve milestones that have strengthened our community and inspired hope for an even brighter future.
Our donors’ unwavering commitment to Dickinson County made it possible for the Foundation to grant almost $1.5 millions dollars 2024 in scholarships and grants. These grants and scholarships are more than financial aid—they are investments in the dreams and the potential of our youth, it is empowering nonprofits to continue to operate, and it is realizing that by working together we are stronger.
This year, we also expanded our Impact Investing Program, a bold initiative allowing us to directly support local business projects. Through this program, we have invested in critical areas such as childcare, local businesses, and community infrastructure. From supporting the Coltrain Childcare Center to aiding Midwest Meats and Walt’s Campground, these investments are creating jobs, fostering entrepreneurship, and meeting essential community needs.
In 2024, the Foundation proudly celebrated its 25th anniversary by moving into a new, welcoming space. For the first time, we have a front door—a symbolic and literal invitation for residents to stop by, connect with us, and learn how their contributions are creating lasting change.
Additionally, we were honored to receive the State of Kansas’ “To the Stars Award” for our innovative approach to philanthropy and our commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Dickinson County. This recognition belongs to everyone who has contributed to our shared vision for a thriving, vibrant community. Every dollar entrusted to the Community Foundation of Dickinson County is a testament to the generosity of our neighbors, the belief in our shared future, and the power of giving. Whether it’s through scholarships, grants, or community investments, your support has made 2024 a year to remember.
As we look ahead to 2025, we invite all residents to consider how they can contribute to this enduring legacy. A gift to the Foundation, whether through an annual donation or leaving 5% of your estate, is a profound way to ensure that Dickinson County continues to thrive for generations to come.
From all of us at the Community Foundation of Dickinson County, thank you for believing in our mission, for championing progress, and for making this year extraordinary. Together, we are building a stronger, brighter Dickinson County.
