Central Office Under New Ownership

Central Office Service and Supply, a provider of office products, technology solutions, and furniture across north central Kansas, was sold on September 1st. Scott and Tresy Leitzel, residents of Clay Center for the past 15 years, overtook ownership from Steve and Sheryl McMahan.

Founded in 1947 by Wilson and Wilma McMahan, the business began as Mail-Me-Monday Accounting Service and evolved through partnerships with Henry Copeland, and Bob, Sharil, and Randy Carlson into the full-service office supply company.

The most recent stewards of the business — Steve and Sheryl McMahan, along with their son Matt — served as second-generation owner/operators of the business.

As part of the transition, Steve and Sheryl will remain actively involved in the business for a period, helping ensure a seamless handover of operations and customer relationships. Matt McMahan will continue to play a key role in the company, providing leadership and making significant contributions across all areas of the operation.

“I’m grateful to Steve and Sheryl for their willingness to share their experience, guidance, and support during this transition,” said Scott Leitzel. “I’m also thrilled that Matt will remain a central member of our team. His strong work ethic and proactive approach to meeting customer needs ensure that every client receives timely, high-quality service — and that’s exactly the standard we aim to uphold.”

“We are delighted and thankful to be able to entrust Central Office Service and Supply to Scott and Tresy,” Steve added. “They understand that this is a huge part of our family legacy which they will honor in the years to come with a continued focus on great products and excellent customer service. While we have incorporated many changes in products and operations over the years, improvements will be made with the new energy and management expertise that the Leitzels bring. We see the Lord’s hand clearly in this transition, and we look forward to having more time for family and for volunteer activities in the years to come.”

“We are honored and humbled by the opportunity to carry forward a business that means so much to this community,” said Scott Leitzel. “Steve, Sheryl, and Matt have built something special, and we’re excited to preserve that same entrepreneurial spirit and customer-first mindset that’s defined Central Office for 78 years.”

The Leitzels said customers can expect the same high level of service and personal care they’ve always known — with continued investment in office technologies, furnishings, product offerings, and local relationships.

Central Office Service and Supply will remain headquartered in Clay Center and will continue to serve customers across north-central Kansas.
