Charles Jake has been appointed vice president of legal affairs and general counsel at Kansas State University, effective June 8. Currently serving as vice president and general counsel at the University of Toledo, Jake was chosen after a national search.
In his new role, Jake will be a senior advisor on the President’s Cabinet and lead the K-State Office of General Counsel. His duties include overseeing legal services for all university campuses, K-State Athletics, and K-State Research and Extension. He will manage legal representation in judicial and administrative matters, negotiations with third parties, and coordination of outside counsel. In addition, Jake will collaborate with the Kansas Board of Regents and its institutions.
With extensive experience in higher education legal affairs, including roles at the University of Toledo and University of Cincinnati, Jake has advised on NCAA compliance, name, image, and likeness licensing, and public-private partnerships. He also has a background in state and local government law.
Jake holds a law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Oakwood University.
