Chiefs Add Former K-State Defensive End Nate Matlack

By Jayson Henderson

The Kansas City Chiefs signed free agent defensive end Nate Matlack on Monday, giving the Olathe East graduate and former Kansas State standout a chance to compete for a roster spot.

Matlack played four seasons at K-State from 2020 to 2023 before finishing his college career at Pittsburgh last fall. His signing comes after the Chiefs placed safety Deon Bush (Achilles) and defensive end Janarius Robinson (foot) on the injured reserve list.

The Chiefs are in the final week of training camp in St. Joseph, with two practices remaining before traveling to Seattle. Kansas City faces the Seahawks Friday night at 9 p.m. CT in its second preseason game.

The Chiefs opened the preseason with a loss to the Arizona Cardinals over the weekend.
