Chiefs Begin OTA Workouts at Team Facility

The Kansas City Chiefs started “Phase 3” of their offseason training this week with voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs) at the team facility. This phase allows the team to run 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills, the first time since last season.

There is no live hitting and no pads worn, but OTAs mark a key step in preparing for the 2025 season. The practices help players learn plays and build team chemistry ahead of training camp in July.

Players and coaches are moving players around to find the best fit for each position. Veterans like quarterback Patrick Mahomes are leading the way, encouraging teammates to work hard during these voluntary sessions.

Highlights from practice included solid performances from Mahomes, wide receivers Jalen Royals and Tyquan Thornton, and strong defensive plays by cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Nazeeh Johnson.

The Chiefs will continue OTAs before a mandatory minicamp in mid-June.
