Chiefs Safety Bush Out for Season with Achilles Tear

By Jayson Henderson

Kansas City Chiefs safety Deon Bush will miss the entire 2025 season after tearing his left Achilles tendon in Saturday’s 20-17 preseason loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Bush went down without contact while changing direction. He was helped by staff, then consoled by coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes before being carted off. A towel covered his head as he left the field.

Bush, a nine-year veteran, was competing for a roster spot. He joined Kansas City in 2022 and contributed to back-to-back Super Bowl titles. His most notable moment came with an interception in the 2023 AFC Championship Game win over Baltimore.

Bush will require surgery and faces a lengthy recovery.
