The Kansas City Chiefs reached the midpoint of “Phase 3” of their offseason training program with another week of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) completed Wednesday.
Phase 3 is key because it allows offensive vs. defensive drills for the first time since last season, though no contact or live hits occur. Teams can hold up to 10 voluntary OTA practices before the mandatory minicamp starts June 17.
Highlights from Wednesday’s practice included cornerback Trent McDuffie intercepting a pass off a deflection and cornerback Nohl Williams also picking off a route. Tight ends Noah Gray and Jake Briningstool made notable catches, with Briningstool hauling in a leaping grab despite tight coverage.
Wide receivers Xavier Worthy, Mac Dalena, and Jimmy Holiday had multiple receptions. Defensive end George Karlaftis continued to impress with quickness and speed on the edge.
