In October, a Chinese trade delegation visited Kansas and Nebraska to source high-quality American Paint Horses for China’s expanding equestrian market. Co-hosted by the Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) and the American Paint Horse Association, the delegation included industry experts and equine enthusiasts interested in building connections with local breeders, trainers, exhibitors, and suppliers across the region.
China’s equestrian market has grown in recent years, increasing demand for versatile, high-quality horses. The delegation focused on identifying horses suitable for young riders to show in the U.S. and China, as well as broodmares and stud prospects to support China’s equine sector development. “We are excited to engage with local horse owners and breeders,” said An Tao, a Beijing-based horse trainer.
KDA’s mission includes supporting agriculture by facilitating opportunities for U.S. producers to market and sell livestock genetics both domestically and internationally. These missions are supported by KDA’s membership in U.S. Livestock Genetics Export, Inc. (USLGE) with USDA Market Access Program funding and in partnership with the American Paint Horse Association.
