Governor Laura Kelly officially swore in Christopher Kennedy as the new Secretary of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks on Friday. Kennedy brings 34 years of experience in wildlife management to the role and says he’s eager to lead the agency into the future.

Kennedy outlined three main goals for his tenure, with one key focus being stronger communication with both the public and state lawmakers—ensuring they understand the department’s work and its needs.

“I was proud to swear in Chris Kennedy as Secretary of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. With nearly 30 years of experience and a lifelong passion for the outdoors, Secretary Kennedy is the right leader to guide the KDWP into a strong future where our state’s wildlife and parks flourish,” said Gov. Kelly.
