The Clay Center Varsity participated in a Quad at Marysville with Topeka Hayden, Chapman, and Marysville. The team comprised:
– #1 Singles: Taige Pfizenmaier
– #2 Singles: Cale Tromp
– #1 Doubles: Brooks Craig and Anthony Davies
– #2 Doubles: JT Alton and Eli Pfizenmaier
In #1 Singles, Taige Pfizenmaier went 3-0, earning a 1st place medal and defeating Ian Woodridge of Chapman 8-2, last year’s 7th place singles medalist at State. In #2 Singles, Cale Tromp went 3-0, securing a 1st place medal with scores of 8-1, 8-0, 8-1. In #2 Doubles, JT Alton and Eli Pfizenmaier went 3-0, also earning a 1st place medal with scores of 8-1, 8-1, 8-0. In #1 Doubles, Brooks Craig and Anthony Davies went 2-1, earning a 2nd place medal. They defeated last year’s state qualifiers Blazer/Reynoldson of Topeka Hayden 8-7 (7-5) tiebreaker before facing undefeated Blake Spicer/Titus Wassom of Marysville. Despite a comeback attempt after trailing 6-1, they lost 8-3.
Clay Center accumulated a total of 27 points, dominating the competition. Marysville trailed with 15 points, followed by Topeka Hayden with 14 points, and Chapman with 6 points.
