A jury trial was scheduled at the Clay County Courthouse to take place between January 6th and 9th. However, an announcement was released on January 3rd that the trial had been canceled.
The trial was for a 33-year-old male who resides in Dickinson County who was charged with: Contribute to a child misconduct; shelter/conceal a runaway, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child; possess media of child <18. The charges took place on June 22, 2023.
On May 2, 2024 the defendant plead not guilty to the first charge of unlawfully sheltering or concealing a runaway with the birth year of 2006, while the latter two were dismissed on January 3, 2025.
On the same day, the defendant entered into a plea deal of “no contest” for the initial charge, a level eight felony, which carries up to 23 months in prison.
Sentencing will take place by Judge Bosch at a later date.
