Cloud County history gathering Feb. 14

By Jennifer Theurer

The Concordia Blade-Empire reports that you can enjoy refreshments with a side of Cloud County history at 2 p.m. on February 14 at the Cloud County Historical Museum.

Vicki Cyr-Katz, president of the Cloud County Genealogical Society, will be discussing prominent people who settled in the area as people moved west.

A historical researcher, Katz is offering her expertise to answer some pressing questions about Cloud County and will cover information like who created the first laws, who the first sheriff was, and the county’s first doctor. If time allows the first suspected murders in the county will also be revealed.

This program is jointly sponsored by the Cloud County Genealogical Society and the Cloud County Historical Museum as they work together to increase interest and knowledge about the county’s past. The museum offers exhibits on Cloud County events such as the rescue of 28 people from the 1935 Republican River Flood and the Ma Barker Gang bank robbery, its regular business hours are posted on its website.

Due to scheduling problems, this program will bump “Family Tree 101” to April 11.
