Dan Meers Retires After 35 Years as KC Wolf Mascot

Dan Meers, the original KC Wolf and longtime mascot of the Kansas City Chiefs, announced his retirement on National Mascot Day after 35 years with the team.

Meers joined the Chiefs in 1990, becoming the NFL’s longest-tenured mascot. Over his career, he performed at 375 games, including five Super Bowls and 14 Pro Bowls. He traveled internationally, visiting 12 countries and making about 10,000 appearances at community events and military bases.

A native of Missouri and a former top collegiate mascot, Meers also created speaking programs promoting character and positivity. He is the first NFL mascot inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

Meers expressed gratitude for his time with the Chiefs and said he looks forward to staying involved as a consultant. The search for the next KC Wolf is already underway.
