Davids Delivers Valentine’s for Veterans at Lenexa VA

Press Release

LENEXA, KS – Today, Representative Sharice Davids delivered Valentine’s Day cards at the Lenexa VA as part of her 7th annual “Valentine’s for Veterans” program. After calling for community submissions, Davids’ team received more than 700 cards from all corners of Kansas’ Third District. Davids, whose mother served in the Army for 20 years, also highlighted the support available to Kansas City-area veterans through her office.

“It’s an honor to once again deliver valentine’s cards to veterans, their families, and caregivers in our community,” said Davids. “As the daughter of a veteran, I understand firsthand the sacrifice our veterans make while serving our country. The Valentine’s for Veterans program is one small, yet personal way we can show our appreciation for those who have worked to keep us safe. I’m thankful for the Kansans who participated and look forward to next year’s program.”

Davids, whose mother served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, has worked hard to ensure Kansas veterans are supported after returning home from active duty. Earlier this month, she reintroduced bipartisan legislation to help veteran succeed when starting a small business after returning home. She also helped pass the Honoring our PACT Act, which expands Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) health care eligibility to 3.5 million American veterans exposed to burn pits and toxic airborne hazards while deployed.

Davids’ office helps military and veteran constituents with casework and acts as a facilitator between federal, state, and local agencies. For more information on how veterans can receive assistance, constituents are encouraged to visit Davids’ website or call her office at (913) 621-0832.
