Kansas State University bakery science students can now apply for scholarship support through a new gift from Dawn Foods, a global bakery manufacturer and ingredient supplier. Starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, the Dawn Foods Bakery Science Scholarship will award $5,000 annually to two undergraduate juniors or seniors.
This new scholarship builds on a long-standing partnership between Dawn Foods and K-State, home to the nation’s only four-year degree in bakery science and management. In addition to scholarship support, the collaboration includes hands-on learning opportunities such as internships at Dawn Foods’ headquarters in Jackson, Michigan, and other U.S. locations.
The bakery science program, part of the Department of Grain Science and Industry in K-State’s College of Agriculture, gives students access to pilot-scale baking facilities and labs where they explore innovative baking technologies and strategies. A new Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation is currently under construction to further support research and industry collaboration.
