Dog Biscuit Recall Issued Over Possible Salmonella Contamination in Seven States

Consumers Supply Distributing, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa is recalling 4-pound bags of Country Vet Biscuits – Original Meaty Flavor and Heartland Harvest Dog Biscuits –Meaty Flavor with Chicken due to possible Salmonella contamination. The products were sold in Kansas, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, Texas, Montana, and Nebraska.

The recalled items share lot number 40906513 and have a best-by date of Sept. 6, 2026. No illnesses have been reported so far. The recall followed routine FDA testing that detected the bacteria, and production and distribution of the affected lot have been stopped.

Salmonella can cause illness in both pets and people who handle the treats. Consumers should stop using the products, return them for a full refund, and contact a veterinarian or healthcare provider if symptoms occur.
