Drive To Zero Day at the Capitol Rescheduled for March 27

Due to the forecasted wintry weather, the Drive To Zero Day at the Capitol event originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 12, has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 27.

Hosted by the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Safety, this event brings together numerous state agencies and community organizations to highlight the importance of improving safe driving behaviors and striving to reduce traffic fatalities and suspected serious injuries to zero.

WHEN: From 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 27

  • 9 a.m. – Event begins
  • 9:30 a.m. – News conference featuring:
    • Kansas Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed
    • Kansas Health and Environment Secretary Janet Stanek
    • Kansas Highway Patrol Colonel Erik Smith
    • Kansas House Transportation Chairman Shannon Francis, who represents District 125
  • 10:15 a.m. – Open house – Talk with members of the Drive To Zero Coalition, elected officials and other transportation safety professionals.
  • Noon – Event adjourns

WHERE: Kansas State Capitol Building, 2nd Floor Rotunda (enter through the ground level on the north side).
