Kansas City Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis was named one of the NFL’s most underrated players by ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz this week.
Karlaftis, entering his fourth season, led the Chiefs with eight sacks in 2024. He also recorded 61 total pressures, ranking 15th in the league according to Pro Football Focus. ESPN’s own data credited him with 44 pressures during the regular season and 11 more in the playoffs.
Schatz highlighted that Karlaftis creates consistent pressure, even when it doesn’t result in sacks. He had three sacks in the Chiefs’ playoff win over Houston and has 32.5 sacks total (including postseason) since being drafted in the first round in 2022.
With 208 total pressures over his career, Karlaftis has been a steady presence on the Chiefs’ defensive line. He’ll look to continue that production heading into the 2025 season.
