This May, a new service will be offered by Ginger’s Uptown in Clay Center. On select days, the location will offer a pop-up menu, where guests can order an entrée, dessert, or whatever else may be available for the day.
Rather than a traditional restaurant with set hours and menu pieces, owner Ginger Walker said they will showcase different gourmet food items, recipes, and more.
Known as The Uptown Kitchen, the boutique eatery will announce open days/hours and available items. Takeout will also be available, Walker said.
She encouraged customers to stay on the lookout for dates and food items, which will not follow a set schedule.
They will also be able to host private parties upon request. The Uptown Kitchen will have a specific menu visitors can choose from.
“We’re really excited about it,” Walker said. “We wanted to do something that was entertaining to our customers and would be a good complement to what we already have.”

Walker said there will be food options at least once a week and will often create a theme around special food-themed celebrations, like National Chocolate Day, for example.
She said the service will also teach customers how to use various gourmet food items that are offered in the store. That includes mixes, salsas, seasonings, dips, and more. As well as dishes and hosting items on which the recipes can be served.
Meanwhile, they will set up tablescapes that will add to the ambiance.
“This is just something we created that is fun, something different,” Walker said. “We just like change so we will do different things, schedule pop-up tables and they will all be set really pretty.”
The idea for an eatery came about four years ago; since then the location has undergone electric and plumbing upgrades and received a commercial kitchen license.
The Uptown Kitchen will open its services May 1st, with food options through the 3rd. Additional dates and food selections will be announced.
“Our intent is to do something completely different, we have a great selection here and this will add to this selection.”
