The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s (KSFM) Investigation Division is assisting the Labette County Sheriff’s Office with a fatal house fire at 630 Iowa St., Oswego, Kansas, reported on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Two KSFM Special Agents were dispatched to aid the investigation.

The fire’s cause remains undetermined. Emergency responders pulled two adult victims from the single-family home, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and both succumbed to their injuries. Authorities are working to identify the victims, with autopsies pending as part of the investigation.

No signs of suspicious activity have been found, and it is unclear whether the home had functioning smoke detectors.
