Fort Hays State University has introduced a new scholarship program to help Kansas community college students who want to transfer to FHSU but need extra financial support. Announced during a recent meeting of Kansas community college presidents, the Community College President Scholarship gives each of the state’s 19 community college presidents a pool of funds they can award to students with the greatest financial need.
FHSU created this program to make the best use of its financial aid resources and strengthen transfer pathways. The scholarship will launch in the new calendar year. Community colleges will send their award recommendations to FHSU by April 1 for students starting in fall 2026 and by December 1 for those starting in spring 2027.
Community college leaders say the scholarship will make college more affordable, improve transfer processes, and support Kansas’ future workforce. More information about FHSU scholarships is available on the university’s website.
