Fire Breaks Out at Safari Zoological Park in Kansas, No Injuries or Animal Losses Reported

There was a fire at the popular Safari Zoological Park near Caney, Kansas, late Wednesday night, but no injuries or animal losses were reported. According to the Montgomery County Chronicle, the blaze engulfed a cabin and damaged a private residence within the park. The park’s owner, Tom Harvey, explained that propane tank explosions hindered firefighting efforts.

On Facebook, Harvey shared that he lacks homeowners’ insurance due to high costs but intends to rebuild. “We want to thank all of the first responders for what they did,” he posted.

The Chronicle notes that Safari Zoological Park has operated for over 30 years and ranks among Kansas’ top zoo destinations on TripAdvisor.
