Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area (FFNHA) announces it has relocated its offices from Lawrence’s Carnegie Building to the Watkins Museum of History, ensuring financial stability amid uncertainty about federal funding for National Heritage Areas. The transition secures FFNHA’s financial stability and strengthens its partnership with Douglas County and the Douglas County Historical Society.

Since 2003, FFNHA has operated from the Carnegie Building, originally as the Bleeding Kansas National Heritage Area. Public exhibits showcasing the region’s historical significance opened in 2011. The relocation reinforces FFNHA’s commitment to preserving heritage while continuing to fund tourism and economic development.

At the Watkins Museum, visitors can access FFNHA maps and passport stamps, with volunteers available to assist and engage the public. The new location enhances collaboration and supports the mission to safeguard the Kansas-Missouri border’s history for future generations.
