On April 15th, USD 379 superintendent, Brett Nelson, announced that Stef Lane will take over as principal at Lincoln Elementary for the 2025-2026 school year. She will start that term in late July.
The move came after the current Lincoln principal, Steven Kimmi, gave his resignation. Kimmi will end his tenure at Lincoln after one year.
Lane has been the principal at Garfield since 2022. Before that, she taught fourth grade at the school for five years. Prior to working in Clay Center, she taught fifth grade in the Kansas City area. Lane earned her bachelor’s degree from K-State and her master’s from Fort Hays. Her husband, Ian Lane, teaches technology at CCCMS.
“While this transition means Garfield Elementary will be losing a valued leader, I am confident that Mrs. Lane’s experience, passion, and commitment to students will be a tremendous asset to the Lincoln community,” Nelson said,. “I believe she will serve Lincoln’s students, staff, and families exceptionally well.”
Nelson said he has already begun the search for a principal at Garfield Elementary and hopes to have the position filled as soon as possible.
