Governor Laura Kelly, on behalf of the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (KCJCC), announced the 2025 recipients of the Federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program on Thursday.
The JAG program provides essential funding to criminal justice agencies across Kansas to combat crime and enhance public safety. These grants support initiatives aimed at reducing and preventing crime, upgrading equipment and technology, and delivering services to crime victims.
As a collaborative effort between federal, state, and local governments, the JAG program funds key areas such as law enforcement, corrections, drug treatment and enforcement, crime prevention, technology improvements, mental health programs, and crime victim services.
The KCJCC, which oversees the allocation of federal criminal justice funding in Kansas, includes representatives from the Governor’s Office, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Attorney General, the Secretary of Corrections, the Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, and the Director of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
This year, $1,924,842 in JAG funding was awarded to 26 agencies statewide.
