Today, Friday, August 22, Governor Laura Kelly ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff at the State Capitol Complex and all court buildings, as directed by Executive Order #20-30, to honor Judge Bruce Brown of the 18th Judicial District Division 10.

“Judge Brown had a long career of service to his community and commitment throughout his tenure on the bench,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “On behalf of the State of Kansas, I thank him for his dedication to upholding the law. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.”

Judge Brown passed away on August 21, 2025. Flags will remain at half-staff until his interment, with the order to be updated once the date is set.
