Governor Kelly requests a declaration of major presidential disaster

Governor Laura Kelly has requested a major presidential disaster declaration from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide Public Assistance funding for damage caused by severe thunderstorms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding between July 17 and July 22, 2025.

The request highlights the continuing impact of storms on public infrastructure, including utility systems, roads, and bridges, and emphasizes the need for federal support to help affected counties rebuild.

The counties included in the request are Barton, Comanche, Edwards, Ford, Hodgeman, Johnson, Logan, Marion, Morris, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rawlins, Saline, Stevens, Sumner, and Wyandotte.
