Grocery, Meal Delivery Expands for Clay Center

Last month, DoorDash became officially available for use in Clay Center. The food delivery service allows users to order fast food or groceries via their smartphone and have their items delivered to a specified address. Though some members had been delivering food prior, Clay Center is now an option via the app.

Door Dash employee, Natasha Boggs, said she was proud of the addition, a project she took on as a Door Dash employee to get more business locally.

“They said it wasn’t worthwhile for such a small town,” Boggs said. “But they don’t know our town; once we get the word out there, small town pride is small town pride.”

Previously, Boggs drove to bigger towns in the weekends to make money from the gig.

She began working for DoorDash after a stroke left her in a wheelchair. Previously, she was the head cook for Friendship Meals, a job she held for five years.

Boggs works with a partner, Tonya Graves, who provides the handoffs. Boggs does all the driving and plans to provide signage to her car for customer peace of mind and recognition.

“I think it will be great for people here in the wintertime,” she said. “It was a lot of paperwork but I’m so excited it finally came through. It’s going to be great.”

The pair also accepts direct orders for customers who don’t use DoorDash or wish to place grocery orders.
